LaLiga : Fight of two bulls
After 4 games of season the biggest rivals (Real Madrid and Barcelona) on planet are not even in top 3. Believe it or not but this is true, Real Betis are on top, all alone and 2 points clear of Valencia. The first shock came in week 2 when Real Sociedad held Catalans giants on 2-2 draw. Pep Guardiola wrongly assumed a B lineup to be good enough to defeat Real Sociedad, at the historically difficult Anoeta stadium no less.
Another shock was in week 3 when Real Madrid crumbled and gave up three points to a team made up of loanees, rejects and free agents. Levante FC produced one of the biggest upsets of the season in any of Europe’s major leagues this season, when they overcame Spain’s other credible title contender, Real Madrid. The Valencia based side opted for very physical play, which was reflected in eight yellow cards.
At the start of season few critics said: Over dominance of Barcelona and Real Madrid is effecting LaLiga and its a true fact. If we look at last year table ranking up-to game week 3 than both powerhouse of Spain were not in top 2 and then Real Madrid grab position 1 in 4th week and lost it to Valencia next week and Los Blancos grab it again in 7th week. Oh where was Barcelona, did Pep Guaodiola kids stopped playing? NO! Enter game week 13 and they grab No.1 ranking in table and never looked back again, though Jose Mourinho kids tried lot but they failed to caught them. Once Barcelona and Real Madrid grab 1-2 position in week 13 no other club reached near to them, neither in points nor in goal difference. Both powerhouse clubs created a huge gulf, and stats told the whole story itself 21 points and 49 goals difference was margin between 2nd placed Real Madrid and 3rd placed Valencia in the end of season, whereas 4 points and 5 goal difference was margin between Barca and Real.
So if we summarize it, will Valencia and Real Betis will give some fight to Real and Barca or both clubs will bounce back strongly and kill the interest of LaLiga and made it fight of two bulls between them. Well we all will know as season progresses…
Hope La Liga provide us some tough contest in 2011-12 season.
