EPL new season: Talking Points
The 2015-16 English Premier League season kicked off yesterday, as Manchester United host Spurs at Old Trafford aka ‘Theatre of Dreams’ where fans inside the stadium, in pubs and in front of television sets across the world are glued to their seat waiting for quality football and cheering for their respective teams but they left frustrated after 90 minutes. This is bitter truth, whether they are fan of Manchester United or Spurs or neutral fan all of them are expecting a vintage display from kick off match of new season, after free hand spending from Louis Van Gaal over the transfer period.
Another talking point from day 1 was, newly promoted Watford game against Roberto Martinez Toffees, as they came close to victory on their return to top premier league, but denied in last 5 minutes of game. They was billed as surprise package of this new season and they are upto that.
If start of premier league kick off match was dull and boring, then there were surprises, goals, comeback victories for clubs and fans have recovered from dull start of day. As the day progresses and last match of the day kicks off at Stamford Bridge, it give goosebumps to fans which was missing throughout the day.
At the end of the day the most notable talking point becomes the match between Chelsea and Swansea, as there were goals, red card and after match press conference where all were expecting a rant from Jose Mourinho, but surprisingly he remains silent, which left fans and pundits to talk more about Mourinho’s silence than what happened over the 90 minutes. This is the beauty of football.
